How does the interview affect B1/B2 visa approval?

The USA B1/B2 visa is granted based on an in-person interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. For Pakistani citizens, this visa is usually issued as a five-year multiple-entry visa, allowing visits for business (B1) or tourism and family visits (B2).

I wrote DS-160 for travel to the US, but I submitted it as B1/B2 due to my own fault. Should I resubmit my application to B2 or just attend the interview?

Most people who apply for B2 visas actually get B1/B2 visas. The reason is that it gives people the option of using it only for tourism or using it to do a brief project for their home country employer, like attending a conference, and then doing some sightseeing. Neither option lets them work for a US employer.

As most US visas are multiple-entry visas, a B1/B2 visa allows people to use their visa one time solely for visiting relatives and sightseeing, and another time for negotiating a contract to buy equipment for their employer’s company and spending some vacation time afterwards at a Florida beach.

In short, attend the interview. Truthfully explain what you intend to do on your upcoming trip, and mention that you would like the flexibility to use the visa subsequently for either more sightseeing or for activities required by your job, if needed, and if your job sometimes requires travel.

Can you reapply for a U.S. visa immediately after being denied, or do you need to wait until your name is removed from any list?

Yes, you can reapply for a US visa at any time, but your prior application and refusal record will remain on ‘the list’ for future reference.

I was given 221g paper, requested additional documents, and my passport on my interview day at the American Embassy. What does all that mean?

Means that the consular officer cannot or will not make a final decision on your application without some additional information.

Does a consular officer have a decision before the interview after reviewing the notes on DS-160 for a B1/B2 visa?

No. Reviewing the application, the interview window, and the applicant's arrival there. After that, the consular officer decides on visa approval or rejection.

The possible reasons for a USA B1/B2 tourist/visitor's visa to be rejected by the embassy?

The most common is simple 214(b) - a possible intending immigrant.

A 10-year ban, can I apply for a visitor visa? Has anyone ever been approved?

You can apply for a visitor visa despite having once been sent home again in shame, and yes, you might very well be approved, with pleasure. People grow up, and laws acknowledge.

Can I get a U.S. B1/B2 visa after a refusal?

A: Yes, it is possible to get a U.S. visa after a refusal. We have many success stories where clients were approved after a previous refusal.

After refusal, the consular officer usually gives you a paper mentioning section 214(b) or 221(g). We first ask you what happened in the interview and review that refusal notice. Then we conduct a Visa Abroad assessment based on your last interview questions and your answers, so we can guide you on how to improve your case for the next application.

Can a consultant guarantee my visa approval?

A: No, no consultant can guarantee visa approval. The final decision is always made by the embassy/consulate visa officer. However, we can carefully prepare your application, guide you for the interview, and help you avoid common mistakes.

Visit Visa Abroad Consultancy has many success stories of U.S. visa approvals. You can double-check our work by reading our clients’ reviews and success story blogs on our website.www.visitabroad.online/success-stories

Can a visa status change from refusal to approval?

A: Yes, sometimes the online visa status can change. For example, a case may first show as refused (often under section 221(g)) and later change to approved after further checks are completed.

After the visa officer makes a decision (approval or refusal), other U.S. agencies may continue background and security processing. This part of the process is outside the visa officer’s control, and during this time, the case status in the system can change based on the results of those checks.

Is a B1/B2 visa refusal a big deal?

A: No, a visa refusal is not the end of life. I was refused before, but later got my visa. If your case is genuine and your documents are true, a refusal is usually just a temporary setback.

At Visit Visa Abroad Consultancy, we handle many refusal cases and turn them into approvals by understanding the refusal reason, preparing you for the next interview, and organizing documents as per embassy requirements.

What is the most common reason for B1/B2 visa refusal?

A: The most common reasons and errors in the application (DS-160) and poor interview preparation. Many applicants make mistakes in sections like employment, responsibilities, previous petitions, or prior refusals.

Visa officers are not interested in your wealth or travel history—they focus on your answers and clarity. At Visit Visa Abroad Consultancy, we help remove application errors and prepare clients to handle interview questions effectively.

How can I apply for a USA B1/B2 visa in Karachi?
A: You can start by reviewing the complete application process on our USA Visa Services page, which outlines all steps, required documents, and consultancy support.

How many times can a US B1/B2 be refused?

A: You can apply as many times as you wish by paying the visa fee each time. However, turning a refusal into an approval depends on addressing the reasons for refusal.

For example, if the officer marked low income as the reason, this cannot be fixed immediately—it may take time to improve your case before reapplying.

What is the administrative processing B1/B2 visa?

A: Administrative processing happens when there are additional checks or red flags on an application or background. There is no fixed time limit for this process.

It can occur whether a visa is initially approved or refused because the visa officer has completed their part, and other U.S. government departments continue the review.

For example, one of my clients was under administrative processing for over a year. Despite the long wait, their case was successfully resolved, and they received visa approval.

How to overcome a US visa refusal?

A: Overcoming a refusal depends on your DS-160 application and the strength of your reason for visiting the U.S.—whether it’s for family, business, conference, tourism, or medical purposes.

From my experience as a consultant, previous travel history or the number of countries visited does not guarantee approval. What matters most is presenting a clear and strong reason for your visit.

Which country visa is easy to get from Pakistan?

A: In my experience as a consultant, U.S. visas can be easier to get compared to others, because the process focuses on the interview rather than extensive documents like hotel bookings, financial statements, or invitation letters.

U.S. visa policy mainly evaluates your home ties and the valid reason for the visit. Officers rely on the interview answers rather than documents, as documents can be genuine or fake. I have seen many applicants with strong travel history and complete documents still get refused, while others with clear reasons and strong ties are approved.
